A large female Red Tail Hawk recently gave us a show to remember. She flew in to dine on the chicken carcass we put in the back yard for the crows. We were amazed the crows just hung out with the hawk. It's like the lion and the lamb. The scarce food supply when the snow is on the ground appears to have mellowed their behavior. The picture had to be
taken from quite a distance. Inspite of it all, the Crows flew off but the Hawk seemed very content to keep on munching on the chicken carcass. Unfortunately, my telephoto lens is not powerful enough to get the detail of this magnificent creature.
